Before I call around, I'd like to get an idea of reasonable prices for a new paint job on just the hood of a 2001 R/T. Also, how cheap is TOO cheap to pay.. I understand that a lot of times with paint, it's 'you get what you pay for'.
The paint on my R/T looks great everywhere but the hood.. it's starting to fade a little, and the clear coat is chipped in one spot. Nothing that needs immediate attention, but surely it will be done eventually. If I am going to have it painted, it will probably not be red.. I'm thinking either black, or white, to match with my scheme.
So, in the 2gn community's opinion, what's a reasonable price to pay for a decent hood color change?
Painting the hood.. what would you pay?

I know on my ex's 01 SRT we had to get hers done and it cost her $150 and came out very good, high gloss, held up well and kept a nice shine to it. Well till she decided to run into the backside of a 18 wheeler, then it looked crumpled and not so much a shine. I would suggest finding a good local shop, stay away from someone like Macco, thats just my opinion, had a bad experiance with them. All in all depending on the detail etc, you should be looking at around $150, i would guess.

That's not a bad price! I hear all sorts of bad things about Maaco, so I will be looking around local shops. Just wanted to get an idea of what people here would pay.. I could be told a price by a shop, but I wouldn't have any idea if it's reasonable if I did not first check and see what others have paid. Thanks for the input :)

no problem and good luck. Call a few shops give them as much detail as you can to get a rough guess. Keep us updated.

That's not too bad. Same thing if I just wanted it to its original Flame Red which it is right now?DodgeEvo wrote:I work in and out of a body shop and you willing be looking around $200 probly. What they will do probly if there is no damage is scuff it up and redo the clear. Or they will just sand it down any from 500-800 grit sandpaper, then basecoat, then clear.
