JEGS Window Switch

Post by 2005.Neon.SXT » Wed Feb 22, 2012 8:22 am

Who has used the JEGs switch for their Magnum Manifold? Just want to make sure that I've wired it the right way... as for the wiring diagram, I'm certain that I got all that right (Red - Power 12v, Black - Ground, Grey - Tach wire from coil and Yellow.. forget which pin on the relay it went to). I used the one that was put up on here for the harlan switch, but just re-did it for mine.

It doesn't have a 2 Cyl option, so it's set for 4CYL, Normally open, turns on 2400RPM and turns off at 3500RPM.

When I went to test it out the first night, the blue LED would turn on at 4800 RPMs, but my butt dyno didn't really prove anything...

So maybe someone who has a JEGs window switch can just help confirm that I did the wiring correctly.. lol.

Thanks!

I'm not sure to be honest... Lol. I'm about to have my boss at work rev my car and see if I can hear it open (ya, probably not).

When it hits 2400 on the switch (4800 RPMs), the blue LED lights up.

What would a tach adapter do?

So here's what I know so far... the switch's Blue LED lights up when the appropriate RPM is hit, and I can feel the relay turn on at the same time... tried to see if I could feel the butterflies snap closed on the manifold when I left off the throttle cable from under the hood, but nothing... probably just too much vibration.

Was just curious about all this because I know there was another member who said that he could "hear the butterflies open". I know I'm not getting a LOT of gains from this, but I do want to utilize the butterflies since I have them.

I guess as long as the switch is programmed correctly, and the relay switches open, then all is good.

And I tapped into the green/pink wire for the tach input on the switch.

Ok so if the switch is working then you are good to go....

Do you have a cold air intake and is your car atx or mtx

I did the swap last year and with the iceman when those butterflies open the car screrams and a lil butt dyno is felt but nothing too major

I switched to a short ram, and mine's an mtx.

Ran an eBay cold air for about 3 years... Didn't want to risk anything anymore lol.

I think 4900 is a bit high I think I set mine to 4200 with WOT ....Im assuming yours is opening only during WOT and the set RPM

I read that if you run just a window switch and no WOT switch, that 4800 is sufficient... You think I should turn it down to 4200?

The butterflies open at the desired RPM... So ya.

If the relay is clicking, check for power at the MTV motor. If you can pull the cover from the relay, you can manually push the contacts together to see if you can hear them work with the engine off. Maybe pull the bellows tube off the IM to hear better. Or if the relay is not the one in the PDC, just jump the relay coil to the battery.

Interesting, didnt know you could manually click the relay like that. I'll have to try that. I definitely can hear the butterflies flap close when I had it installed before the JEGS was put in (by touching the wires to the battery).

Yep you are just using your finger to make the contact, vs the relay coil pulling it together. Depending on the relay type, they can be a pita to pull the cover. Usually a small screwdriver will pry them up enough to come off.

I never knew that. I was able to do that earlier today, and came to the conclusion that I never grounded the relay... Rofl. I got it all figured and I have it set to open the butterflies at 4200.

Which I'm curious: is that too low? I read elsewhere that members set them to 4800.

Well at least looking at the relay helped you confirm/solve the problem.

The factory setting is 4900, but if you can't tell a difference in the butt dyno...

Without a WOT switch, it isn't 100% working "as designed" anyways.

What I'm actually wondering, if I ever get mine installed, and use the 60mm TB, what throttle opening is closest to the 52mm at WOT? So in reality, anyone with a larger TB, and PCM controlled MTV, is not really getting the full benefit out of it either.
