Got VHT Night Shades today. Applying 2morrow
I got my nightshads and a clear coat sealer as well, gonna apply 2morrow after work. anyone with any suggestion would be welcome. My rear tail lights are very clean with no scratches etc, or atleast surface lvl ones that can been seen by eye. I plan on doing the 2 tail lights, 3rd brake and 2 front side markers. If you have any suggestions please let me know, id love to hear any tips to make it eaiser. I have read the How-To's etc on the site and got some good pointers there. Will take pics once it is all done and dry etc...

I'd scuff up the tail a bit, not with anything to rough. I also recommend putting on a clear coat to keep the tails from turning gray.

Ok so the application went hooribly wrong. The can exploded and I got nightshade everwhere. It dont wash outa clothes by the way. And my tail lights look like the car threw up on them. So now I had to order some new ones online. Called up autozone and told them what happened and they said it was prob caused by me shaking the can to much. Yeah I dont buy that, Its not like I was turbo shaking for 3 hours straight. So none the less, that was a failed project. Worst part is, i got half of one light done and looking good, then boom. It took alot of GoJo and SoS pads to clean it off me. Lucky for me, the lights still shine through at night with the brake pressed, but my tail light looks like Sloth from the Goonies

Lol, sloth from the goonies. You can get new tails on ebay for relatively cheap, i also have a set of altezza tails if your interested, theyre for 03-05 though. Id prolly look into new tailss. Or wet sand with 80 to get the paint off then wet 400 then reapply nightshades. No guarantees though. Or maybe try paint stripper. Hope this helps.
My post down the line was asking how to remove is since the web site says once its applied it can not be removed ...

But if your going to reapply it ... I would take the lights out of the car and wet sand them with 400 grit paper to get the nightshade off now ... then 600 and 1000 grit and clean them really good and reapply.
80 grit is rediculous ... thats what you use to sand bondo ... not a plastic lens.

Ordered new lights. Get them in a few days. $50. Not bad for ebay.

It can be removed if you use sandpaper or thinner.mjrpaine wrote:My post down the line was asking how to remove is since the web site says once its applied it can not be removed ...

Thinner and most other solvents tend to soften and melt the plastic when used. I had asked because I was looking at some 3d lights someone put it on and I didn't want it on there.
But if he is removing it just to reapply ... then yes that will work for him. But def. Not 80 grit as someone mentioned ...

Didnt get them ones after all. I did a little more research on them, and got clear ones from a different dealer. These are the ones I got instead.
