skim
if my car doesnt have a skim and i get an ecu designed for one how do i make it work? and the only power option i have is power steering(not an option though) my car is an 01 and i dont even have anywhere to plug in power options i would have to swap in an interior harness from a optioned out car and thats not in the budget
Re: skim
you will need the sentry key (grey one), the pcm (obviously), and the skim module itself (attaches to the column). ensure the pcm is for 01-02 btwredneckmoparman wrote:if my car doesnt have a skim and i get an ecu designed for one how do i make it work?
- if you can get all of the above items that were original to that car, all you have to do is install it and you're good to go.

Most PCM's are matched to the SKIM module, which is matched to the key. You would need to take it to a dealer, and have them flash the PCM to the SKIM, which you would prolly have to buy new, since you need the SKIM code for the module.
I don't think they can pull it from the module. You would also need to have the key(s) programmed to the SKIM module. If you can get a SKIM module, with ign. cylinder and key from someone that has the code, it would save a bit of money at the dealer.
Another problem that seems to be cropping up lately, is some dealers will not flash PCM's unless they are new. They are claiming it cannot be done. Whether this is just ignorance, or intentional, IDK.
It is much simpler if you have a SKIM equipped car to begin with.
Or if you are feeling lucky, you could just install the PCM and see if it works. It does happen. My car is proof. The '02 R/T pcm in my non SKIM car is a SKIM pcm. It works 100%. I just get a SKIM bus error code.
But I'm betting you would not get the AF/X cheap enough to roll the dice.

Probably shouldn't listen to anything your penis says, that guy's a dick.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.
