Question about a couple of issues

Post by unc-newbie » Thu Mar 15, 2012 10:02 pm

I let a friend borrow my Neon for a bit and it ended up breaking down on him. Basically it looked like it tore the clutch up, so I had it replaced by a mechanic from my neighborhood. Got a couple of issues going on right now still and looking for a little direction.

1. I have a grinding noise when shifting from 2nd to 3rd and again from 4th to 5th.

2. Ever since the clutch replacement, also slave cylinder, it has been hard to shift into any gear but only grinds when doing what is in step one.

3. When going from a stopped position if you give a little more gas before letting the clutch all the way out the front end seems to jump, pretty hard.

Now the guy that did the clutch, we did a bled the slave cylinder but from what I have read we should have replaced both master and slave. Right after getting the clutch in, I had already moved to Ohio, I drove the car to Ohio and that is where I am currently at. Just trying to see what would be some next steps in seeing what is going on with my car.

Thanks

Well the clutch is definitely not disengaging. So try bleeding it again and adjust the clutch pedal. If that doesn't do it, replace parts. Fix it before you ruin the trans. You'll wear out the blocker rings in no time shifting it like that.

I was looking at doing that tomorrow, as far as bleeding it again. I will look into the adjusting the clutch pedal.
