Need a Mechanic

Post by elstopneon » Tue Mar 20, 2012 7:56 pm

I been to so many people and no one can tell me what's exactly wrong with my car. From what I can tell it has a vacuum leak somewhere. I need someone who is a neon expert to check out and see what's going on. I'm in pa but can meet up. Let me know what works. Thanks

You could try asking in the NE regional forum, seems to be one of the more active regions for members. viewforum.php?f=41

i'm available, not sure how close you are to carlisle but if you could make it to my garage that would be easier.

haha, if the mechanics that you've brought your car to can't find a vacuum leak on a neon, they shouldn't work on any cars. if it's truly a vacuum leak, spray some carb cleaner over your vacuum lines and when you find the place that the engine smooths out, that's where the leak is. pretty easy

And if it is in the HVAC (interior), I don't think it would have a big enough affect on anything. About the only place it could be hard to detect with the spray method would be the brake booster, but then there should be a brake problem at that point also. (Harder pedal)

Or it could just be low manifold vacuum from engine problems...

I just replaced the brake booster hose that connects to the intake manifold. The brake fluid also seems to run out quick. I will try the carb cleaner method tomorrow and what happens. Also I'm located right outside philadelphia ( drexel hill )

maybe ur mastercyl is leaking into ur booster ? if ur running out of fluid and u dont see any wet spots, id check that. and there also is a little rubber o ring on the master cyl that mates to the booster that could not be seating right
