Head unit suggestions

Post by ragek23 » Fri Mar 23, 2012 5:17 pm

OK so here is my dilema and my bias: I love alpine radios and I have only used alpine so far. I want a radio that will illuminate at night with red buttons but, I can only find 1 alpine radio in production right now that has red buttons but it has no expandability to blue tooth or HD radio. I am upset because I thought I landed a display model from last year's produciton that had red buttons and bluetooth (handsfree) built in with the expandabiliity to HD radio. I am willing to try different manufacturers as long as the radio has:

1.red buttons
2.blue tooth
3.HD radio or the expandibility to HD radio

I just installed my JVC radio today. I was in your exact boat - my entire system is alpine, so I wanted to stay consistent, however, I hate the colors of alpine HU's. I wanted a radio that had color changing display options.

I went with the JVC Arsenal KD-AHD75BT - $199.99 @ the Crutch w/ free installation gear

General features:
-- CD receiver with AM/FM tuner with 6-AM 18-FM Presets
-- built-in HD Radio™ tuner
-- included Bluetooth adapter for hands-free calling and audio streaming
-- USB 1A connection provides extra power for charging devices
-- built-in iPod/iPhone control
-- control PANDORA® from your iPhone, Android, or Blackberry smartphone
-- built-in MOSFET amplifier (20 watts RMS CEA-2006/50 peak x 4 channels)
-- Separated Variable Color display
-- remote control

Audio features:
-- 24-bit digital-to-analog converter
-- high- and low-pass filters
-- 3-band parametric equalizer

Expandability:
-- inputs: front and rear USB ports, front auxiliary input
-- outputs: 6-channel preamp outputs (4.8-volt front, rear, subwoofer)

Other features and specs:
-- CEA-2006 compliant amplifier
-- compatible with most factory steering wheel audio controls (adapter required)
-- warranty: 2 years
-- Our 60-day money-back guarantee (Crutchfield.com)

The MAIN thing that attracted me to this radio was that it has the capability of over 30,000 color changes PER SIDE (buttons OR text display) including brightness...you can match any OEM dash color that you want or have the colors on a constant rotation! Plus it has every single option I wanted in a new radio (BlueTooth + HD-Radio Tuner (harder to find), Front Aux/USB, SiriusXM Radio Ready (I've had XM for years now and bought the specific Roady XT receiver b/c of the 7 color capability), Pandora Radio, iPhone charging/support, CD/Radio Text Display, 3 RCA outputs for my subs & if I choose to buy another amp for my speakers, and so much more.

Here's a couple pics:

Finished install. Later tonight when it gets dark, I will get it to color-match OEM exact. :)

All in all I'm very happy with it and would recommend it as it fulfills all of your requirements plus so much more.

Haha thanks man I was able to find a discount code on google and get it for $180 shipped from crutchfield! can't wait to install this in my EVO. I hate having a sock radio and only being able to use basic CDs or just the radio.

np bro :) That's what we're all here for. The sound quality is great and the EQ tunability is superb - there is multiple ways to change/set the EQ. All of the preset versions "Bass Boost" "Vocal Boost" "Soft" etc. and there is also two ways to adjust the "User" settings - "Easy Adjust" or "Pro Adjust". Easy is just like setting Bass +00,01,02-08 Mid +00,01,02-08 etc. and in the Pro Adjust you actual set the amount of mHz for each (Bass, Mid, Treb) it's sick

Hope you enjoy it man! I sure am.

call crutchfield and tell then you have a referral code to use. it stacks with other coupons but it won't work online, only phone orders.
