New wheels+new coilovers w/ pics

Post by mopar2 » Wed Apr 04, 2012 9:56 pm

Hey guys! Thought I would post up pics of my new wheels. This car is far from done!

Next up is coilovers and prothane bushing kit. I got a Crane 12 and new springs waiting to install!

New pics!
Old struts coming out!
Image
Image
I didn't get pics of my rear strut mounts (I should have!) my RR strut mount totally failed! I could move the strut around in it!
Image
My front control arm bushings are shot, haven't gotten around to replacing them yet.

Love the wheels! I was looking at a set in gunmetal, very "affordable" rims

very nice! probably would look better with a little beefier tire though, unless you plan on lowering it

Thanks everyone! I do plan on lowering it. It will be sitting on coilovers within the next month. The wheels are Drag DR-34's with Nankang tires 205/40/R17. This is my wife's dd so she's making all the calls on it! And yes as far as potholes go she knows she's gotta try to avoid most of the road issues.

17's... wise man. 18's are "baller" but not practical for cost of tires and for protection of the wheel from road damage (potholes and such). I will be honest with you, I think the red pinstripe is out of place with your color car, and these would look better all black against your silver. Including the cap. Me, I'd repaint 'em semigloss or gloss black incl. the centercap and they'd be sex on that silver car. But that's IMO, and regardless I like these wheels.

I know very well why you have that size "ruber band" tire on there... you needed to clear the spring perch on the struts. When you get your coilovers, do yourself a favor and save up for tires with a bit taller sidewall series. Rubber band tires mean risk to your wheel.
Drive it like you stole it, and work on it like you married it.

I am not a fan of 17's + on neons. I used to have 205/40/17 but I hated it because you can feel every single bump on the road with those rubberband tires. Not to mention they get bent up easily.

205/50/16 is the way to go, and I think it looks better.

Coilovers and full prothane kit ordered! I been researching turbos and been talking to esteinmaier about what size turbo to run on this car. It will be MS'd over next winter! My wife is having fun picking out all the goodies for her car!

I know! I can't wait to get it low! The only other thing I'd like to do is change out the front bumper cover to an RT cover!

Thanks guys! I added pics to the top of the page! I'm waiting to see how much they settle. I also added a SRT4 wing(wife's car, she wanted it) doesn't look to bad. It really could use a set of R/T or SRT skirts, 02 front bumper with a lip, and a SRT rear bumper or rear lip kit installed. Man the handling is 10 times better. This car carves corners like crazy now!
