Question about Faulty MFS
Hey Guys
I'm almost positive my MFS is screwed ...the fog light on the dash flashes every now and then and to fix it I just push on the end of the switch...anyways...my question is...if this switch is faulty could this fault some how turn on the fog light automatically or cause an electrical fault where is drains the battery.... after I turn the car off...cause twice now my battery is drained and when I went into the car the fog light indicator on the dash was on??? WTF!
I'm about to do a call out road side assist and jump the car up...I think the battery is fine its just drained!
unless something else is doing this...a few weeks ago this happened and jumping it was fine...and now today the same thing?
How the F**K do these switches break I'm so freaking careful I baby the thing....

has nothing to do with you babying it alex, it was a piss poor design from the factory.
as was said before in your other thread, the worst thing that usually happens is the connector in the back of the MFS can overheat and melt. However the foglight circuit shouldnt be draining your battery since it turns off with the car. however there is always power running to the mfs, so if that plug in the back is indeed melted, it could certainly short and drain your battery.
I can tell you that hunting down a voltage drain can be a tricky thing, i know if the car is hooked up to an OBDIII scan tool a lot of times it can tell what is going on. But obviously you dont have that luxury, so i'd start with the MFS and report back.

Thanx
Thanx brother
I'm dreading a mystery battery drain.... I might have to take it to the dealership and get them to scan it...
I am ordering a new MFS next week and I will replace it........if the connector is say melted would the fogs still work cause they still do? This battery drain has coincidently happened twice when I left the car out in the hot sun??
Ohhh boy cars hey! Gotta love em'

yes the fogs could still work with the connector melted, if the connector is melted and you need it replaced you'll have to get a new one with a pigtail and splice it on.

In the interim if I remove the BUX fuse for the fog light should I be ok until the new MFS arrives??

your fog lights def wont turn on then so yes. not saying that will solve the batt drain issue though
