Maddog STS! :-)

Post by R/Tjoe » Thu Apr 12, 2012 11:35 am

First off i would like to start out by saying how pleased i am with the product and service i received from chuck(maddog). The customer service i received was phenomenal and as for the quality of the STS, i would recommend this shifter to anyone with an mtx!

Before purchasing i emailed him with some questions i had concerning fitment and customizing the shifter to make it my own. After some ideas were thrown around i finally was able to come up with something that i liked. What i got was a 80% reduction STS with the srt boot and powder coated black billet shift knob. I was going to do powder on the shaft to match the interior of the car but since that would have run me another $50 i decided to just rattle can it.

Anyways the final product turned out amazing! I also did the booger bushings and i absolutely love the way the car drives! I snapped a couple pics to show, let me know what yall think!

Thanks! the install was cake! it took like a half hour. the only think that people have said that they have trouble with is getting the 2 shift cable clips off. but when i did it i just used the claw side of a hammer and pryed the clip off with not too much effort. no cut up hands or anything. very easy install for sure!

Nice, nice. Maybe someday I'll have to take Chuck up on his offer to make one for me.

How different is the 80% reduction? Is it just as easy to find gears?

The 80% is a huge difference but i dont think it is any harder to find gears. The throw is reduced side to side as well so it takes a little adjusting for that, but nothing that doesnt come after driving around for a day or so.

^^Yeah, my Mopar STS really doesn't feel that much different from the stock one after driving with it for several years. I've probably forgotten and need to try a stock one again to refresh my memory. :banghead:

Just do it, David.
You won't be sorry. :D One of the best investments we can get for our cars.
Not to mention, one of the best long-time vendors on these boards.

Are you ever in the NE IL. / SE WI. area ?
You could always stop over at his place and pick one up, to save a bit on shipping costs.
