Back on topic, I don't think that these drivers do what they do because of your vehicle (a Neon). I have had many incidents like this on my job when I was driving the Subaru or the Liberty I'm in now. I might have things like this happen a few times a month so I understand completely how the OP felt.

On the other hand, when people do try things like that when I'm off the clock (and in my SRT), no one has succeeded yet.

I agree with David.
I have taken a couple of road trips with my former manager, in his little Honda DX hatch. I noticed that his driving experience was much like mine - people would tailgate him with their big trucks and SUVs.
I don't think the make of car, or the fact that it's a Neon, has anything to do with it - for most drivers.

Folks are just getting more impatient with time, as they get acclimated to lousy driving as 'normal' driving.
ANYONE in front of them, is the 'target' of tailgaters.

Called 911 and got his license plate number on record. Think I should pursue charges? The guy scared me shitless when he pushed into my lane before speeding up and cutting in front of me, almost hitting the barrier, stopping dead on the ramp and, blocking traffic for about 5 seconds. He intentionally cut me off at my exit just to be a dick because when I followed him on the phone with a 911 dispatcher he could have gotten off at the next exit, safely, 3 miles down the road. Was hoping for a live stop but it didn't happen as he lost me at a traffic light

What do you guys think? Should I pursue charges on the driver for reckless driving or should I forget about it and thank god he didn't succeed in what he was trying to accomplish?

Oh... so you're one of "Those" People...

I'm always afraid some asshole is going to report my plate to the cops like a pussy and home sweet home Jersey, here you are. You have a problem with a minivan passing you? Speed the fuck up and get on with your day. People drive like assholes every day, no need getting all in a twist about it. Maybe his wife was in labor in the back seat or maybe he was drunk, who the fuck knows. "Pressing charges" of reckless driving just because you didn't like how he was driving is just shallow and pedantic.
x2

Get the sand out of the vag brah. It's a godamn minivan
Let me reiterate I was minding my own business when the minivan came up and rode my ass. I was doing 75 in a 65 already, he starts flashing his high beams and was less then 1 car length behind me. I couldn't move over as the traffic was heavy. I moved over when I got the chance to. The guy then straddles lanes cutting into MY lane, trying to run me off the road, when my exit comes up he recklessly cut across TWO lanes of traffic, nearly hits my driver side front fender AND the guardrail then slams on the brakes, comes to a dead stop on the off ramp trying to collect me in his rear. I drive defensively so this wasn't a problem because as soon as he cut me off like he did I fell back and kept my distance. after he came to a dead stop I called 911 because I was trapped and I didn't know what he was going to do (like get out of his car or throw it in rev.) I got his tag and followed him. where I followed him to he could have gotten off, easily, at the next exit as it took him right where I followed him to. I don't report every reckless driver out there, but this one freaked me out, big time. I didn't have 'sand in my vag' I had shit in my pants because if he has succeeded in what he wanted to do. I probably wouldn't be typing this today. So, before you go bitching because I called and reported someone who could have killed me, take your foot and shove it in your mouth before I shove my foot up your ass

Oh, and if his wife was in labor in the back seat.. he missed the only hospital in 40 miles 5 miles back and going the wrong way to get to the next one. It doesn't matter what the situation is, driving like he was, putting not only mine and his lives, but about 20 (or more) other people's lives in danger. just because they're in a hurry for WHATEVER isn't an excuse to drive like a moron, cutting someone off to get onto an exit they didn't need to take

I called 911 on a driver last year who did pretty much the same thing to me. He was tailgating me through the 45 MPH construction zone at the I-70/I-465 interchange on Indy's east side, passed me while straddling two lanes (nearly taking out the driver's side door and front fender on my Subaru), merged in front of me and immediately hit the brakes to where I almost collided with him. The on ramp from I-70 West dumped me into a section of lanes that moved everyone over a lane (solid white line) to the left and there was traffic merging on my left from I-70 East- not much I could do about being :quotes: in his way :quotes: . This was on a Saturday afternoon- I had already had another incident just like it that morning in this same spot going from east to north earlier on my route (I had to go through this interchange twice on the Saturday route I used to run).

Company vehicle (I was on the job at the time). After two years and 155K miles, The Subie was retired at the end of January. March 1st, I got a brand new Jeep Liberty (already at 18K today  ).

I had 3 people "aggressively" driving around me today. Big deal, move on with your life.

Straddling 2 lanes of traffic in heavy traffic, running you off the road, onto the shoulder and trying to deliberately take you out and cause an accident? yeah, that's beyond aggressive, that's careless, reckless and shows extreme disregard for anyone else on the road

Jerry, what the OP is talking about is more than just the usual idiots doing stupid things. Here is another example: a few years ago, I was getting ready to turn onto the ramp for northbound I-69 from US 35 outside of Muncie, IN. I was westbound on 35, following a semi. There was another car going east on 35 that needed to make a left turn for the ramp. The semi went ahead and turned right onto the ramp and, since I had the right-of-way (no yield sign and me turning right), I followed the semi. The other car zoomed right up on my tail on the on ramp. When I got to the top of the ramp, I looked south for oncoming traffic in the passing lane. Seeing none, I merged into the passing lane and began passing the semi. Just as I was getting to highway speed (70 MPH), the other car proceeded to pass me on the left in the grassy median, honking his horn the entire time he went around me. He cut me off and tried to force me under the semi's trailer by immediately merging into my lane. I just about wet myself. Oh, did I mention that it was pitch black out in the country at the time? :aargh:

I got ran into the shoulder trying to drive home because some asshole decided to change lanes when I was tire to tire with him. I simply planted it, gave the finger and left the situation. My reaction saved my life today. I could have called the cops, but why? It would have been story vs story.

Btw a Suburban will lose from a 70 roll.

I've had drivers try this with me but, thank goodness, my vehicle wasn't hit. Lucky it was caught on video.

 There ya go. A normal person reaction. Don't need people pissing their pants every time someone gets too close for their comfort.

This is about how it looks out my windshield when someone thinks 70 is appropriate fast lane speed. (Action starts around 6 minutes in)

I think a lot of the problem is driver's who aren't comfortable wheel-to-wheel on the roads with totally un-shy drivers. I know for a fact, I can get within six inches of any car or obstacle on the front or sides and still feel like I have room to react while that might feel like being "run off the road" by less well adept drivers.
