tempature guage reading low

tempature guage reading low

my 02 neon seems to be reading low on the tempature guage, about 1/4 of it's range, every neon i have had 1 1st gen and 2 2nd gens all ran right in the middle,i replaced the thermostat with the a 195 which is what was in it,any opinions? it also seems not to be getting premo mpgs all my other neons got a steady 30 around town and 33 to 35 on the highway, this got less than 30 on the highway maybe the temp sensor is getting weak

I would test the temp sensor to start with.
