Revs after timing belt change

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Revs after timing belt change

Post by Alex Kurdian » Wed Apr 18, 2012 2:46 am

Hey Guys
Before my timing belt job my car would keep the revs at idle above 500...and on some occasions it would drop to right on 500 nice and silent and steady but didn’t do this all that often..with air con and heaters obviously it would always be above 500 and rev more...

However after the timing belt change almost most times when I come to a stop at idle and the air con isn’t on the revs almost always drop to 500 exactly like on clock work...is this because maybe the timing is better...my old hydraulic tensioner was leaking and who knows if the timing was right??
I drove My Neon till it "SOLD" And then bought a Mazda 3 Skyactiv
