brake problem...

Post by cgneon » Sat Apr 21, 2012 12:46 pm

wheel bearings have less than 3000 miles on em,

did a 1gn disk swap a year or so ago..

everything was fine until a couple days ago we got a light rain, no big deal.. get to driving, and feels like when you have a ton of surface rust, figured ok, take a second to rub off.. but its still there, increases noise with speed, (not bearing whuurrrrrr) more like brakes dragging/scraping, like pad touching rotor does NOT go away when i brake, (soft brake line problem? caliper problem?)

plenty of pad left, rotors could use replacing (could the pads be rubbing the inside or outside edge of the rotor since its fairly worn down?

i pulled off both calipers today, no leaks, the passenger side piston moved fine, the drivers side was alot tighter but it retracted... i feel like thats the side with the noise when i drive...

any ideas thanks, either A: im gonna take it to a mechanic, or B: buy a bunch of parts and throw em at the car still in the boxes..

since its a 1gn disk setup im assuming i would need 1gn soft lines and 1gn calipers 1gn rotors and pads etc.... they are not interchangeable with 2gn parts right?

update, jacked up both sides again and spun the tires, def driver side noise, broke it down, looks like bearing is making the noise, it is basically new which is why i ruled it out, installed last year, less than 3k miles on it, but i guess its a bad batch.. ordered a new one, will install next weekend, hopefully that solves the prob...
