This explains a lot and confirms some suspicions I've had about certain traits of our 2GNs. Disclaimer: I was extremely suspicious of the 2GNs when they appeared in 1999 (my feeling at the time was that Chrysler had come close to ruining pretty much everything I loved about the original Neons) but, after owning my '02 SXT and subsequent 2GNs, my feelings for both generations is now the same.

The hidden headlights might have been interesting but would have lost a lot of the original Neon's character.
