what gap should my plugs be at

so my engine is making a fast ticking noise so i bought plugs i set them at .38 is that good and on first start up my exhuast poured white smoke its never had any smoke from the exhuast on the old plugs 2 were gaped at .45 and two wernt gapped at all idk that until i took them out for the first time

I think it's supposed to be .035 inch

I did a search when I did mine back in january and .035 popped up quite a few times.

yea its .035 and it should be on the emissions label under the hood
