Chrome grill trim.

Post by buddhachild » Mon May 21, 2012 3:35 am

One of the chrome grill trim pieces on my '05 SXT is cracked. Is it easy to take off, or do i need to take off the front bumper? I really don't have the time or the patience right now to dismantle a large part of my car for such a minor issue. If it is easy to take off i want to get a new piece, remove the rest of them and paint them to match the car. Otherwise it can wait.

Yes and no. if you have a delicate touch and take your time, you will be fine. If you are like F it and rip and tear you will break them and/or the tabs that hold them in and have a very bad time

I didn't and I was able to replace mine just fine. you just need to know where the tabs are located on the inserts and have a small and/or flat screwdriver and have a little patience. you can gently use the screwdriver and start on the outter corner and work in to the middle. Depress the tab and gently pull till you feel it slide out and repeat till they're all off taking care not to break the tabs or you will have to use double sided tape to affix them.

I did it last week with a small screw driver. you wont break it unless your an idiot lol. or you go hulk on the thing lol. just be gentle and pry on a little till you see where the tabs are. you will figure it out

Not really gonna do anything till i have the replacement for the cracked piece. Also don't have a lot of time off from work right now, busy time of year. I'll post some before and after pics when i get it done though. Also wasn't sure if i wanted to just paint them or try that Dupli-Color® Shadow™ Chrome Black-Out.
