Clutch resovoir location on 2001 neon

Post by BrownBeast » Tue Jun 19, 2012 2:40 am

So I was driving along when I suddenly lost pressure in my clutch pedal... and couldn't change gears with the clutch... but as I'm too broke to get towed... I banged it into 2nd and drove the rest of the way home at around 45km/h... anyways, I've found my slave cylinder haven't touched it yet, don't know where the master cylinder and the reservoir is, I opened one reservoir under the hood with a sign that looks like it's for brakes... but the fluid within is black...

my question... is the clutch system using the same reservoir or is there another reservoir somewhere I haven't noticed ? please post a pic to make it easier for me if possible... I drive a right hand drive model. :quotes:

the reservoir for the clutch is right next to the master cyl reservoir for the brakes. its just a little thing. as for where the master cyl is for the clutch, just follow the line down by the firewall.

The RHD Neon is set up differently than our cars. Here is a pic of Alex's car for comparison...

While the brake master cylinder is in the left corner there, I'm not sure where the clutch master is. It is more than likely right near it, but I don't see it.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

Has to be somewhere close to the brake MC. The parts drawing shows it above the clutch MC, more directly above it than the LHD. It is probably hidden under the A/C lines and wire loom.

 Nah, I ain't going there.

lol, that's not what I meant :laughing3:

and yep from South Africa, it's really a nuisance trying to get parts for neons locally, the dealer is ridiculous, and scrapyards will charge very close to dealer prices... and would probably quote me something bigger than my monthly salary to sort it out... still haven't had time to properly check yet where that MC is... will let you guys know if I find it

so I eventually had time and found the reservoir... very close to the brake reservoir just hidden in the back... but turns out the master cylinder is leaking a bit too much to be useable... chrysler wants over US$400 for a new part... will see if I can find an alternative cheaper online...

Damn import duties.

The DSM cars Eagle talon/Mitsubishi eclipse here have aluminum clutch master/slave cylinders that are supposed to be a bolt in replacement. Maybe try looking for those, if they have them there.
