Power Door latch?

Post by NyNeon0813 » Tue Jun 26, 2012 12:34 pm

I changed my passenger side rear door latch and noticed it had a wire attached to it, which I take is for power locks, but I dont have power locks in my car.. Could this mean that I have the writing for it already and could have power locks if I just get the correct door panels on the front?

I'll have to take the front door panels off to see if out had the same writing to the door latch and what not. Just figured I'd ask and see if anyone knew. Thanks

Just a single wire? If so, that is for the dome light/door ajar indicator.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

Thats the same thing I thought, but I went to the junk yard and got another latch, bc mine was broken, but it wasnt the same, it didn't have the connector for the wire. But after replacing it, it didn't cause the door ajar or the dome light to come on. And I just left the connector just hanging in the door

Odd. Did the latch you replaced it with come from a 2000 Neon?

This.

the dome light/"door is a jar/bottle/sex toy" will not come on, until the latch switch closes and completes the circuit to ground.

other way around bill... it should stay off till the circuit is completed, hence why it's off now. because the circuit is incomplete

Honestly I didn't even check. I figured they would all b the same. So I turned the key on, opened the door and the dome light didn't turn on.. So now I'm thinking it is just the door/dome light wire. Sucks power locks would b nice

Ok so maybe it should be worded better. The latch switch closes, when the latch is open. :)

To clarify:
2000 MY neons still use the pin in the door jamb, not the door latch.
