just venting
Sorry guys but I got some bad news today and I don't think it is appropriate to post it on FB because it really isn't my news. Anyway my dad called me on fri. but I was in Cincinnati for work and was napping while my wife drove to Evansville, IN for a wedding I was in. my dad called and my wife texted him back (there was a car fire so traffic was stopped; I don't condone texting and driving and neither does she). Anyway she texted him the situation and he told us to call him when we got to IN and to call him back for a longer call on Sunday. So we got carried away with the whole wedding thing (and I really didn't want to call twice in a week). So I called him today and after the small talk my dad dropped a bomb on me. He had a lump on his thyroid during an annual checkup for a titanium neck replacement surgery he had 3-4 years ago, and for a man in his age group this is very uncommon. More importantly I was told that less than 1% of these lumps are malignant...well he has always been an overachiever so of course his was malignant and he goes under the knife this sat. Again, I just needed to get this off my chest and I don’t know who he has told about this so I don’t think that FB is an appropriate medium for me to post this in. That means that you guys have to read this news. I am seriously concerned about his surgery and I know this is kind of a cliché but I never thought that my family would be this close to cancer. Thanks guys, I know that I haven’t met any of you guys/gals in person, but you guys are the best people that I know.

More good news:
I recall to have read that thyroid cancers are usually the easiest to treat, and the track record is the best of any cancer.
So if you must come down with cancer, try to get it in your thyroid.
