engine support troubles
engine support troubles
Hey my engine support was broke changed it a year ago and recently i have been hearing a grinding noise when i drive and only to find out that the engine support has gone bad again. Anybody have any ideas why this is happening?

Just to clarify, you are referring to the right side (passenger) support that bolts in at the wheel well?
From the feedback on after market replacements lately, I would go with a Mopar replacement part for the engine and transaxle supports.
The actual support mounts should last 80,000 to 100,000 miles. At least not breaking down to the point of the engine sagging enough for parts to contact the chassis.

Most aftermarket oem style torque struts are not that great. As much as the factory ones cost, they are well worth it. You should also replace them in pairs, and adjust the top one properly. There are a few good aftermarket ones out there, but they are more $ than the factory units.
If nothing else, buy some decent used ones from the FS board, or from a low mileage JY car. It would be better than Anchor, or some of the other cheap ones.
