New job position - Parts Manager :)

Post by BlackRoseRacing » Wed Aug 22, 2012 10:51 pm

Some of you may already know, the fellow coworker I have had to deal with for numerous years is no longer with us. Some of you had to regretfully deal with him when I was doing the 2gn sales through my place of work. Long story short, my coworker passed away of a massive heart attack. Come to find out he was also dealing with medical issues that he disregarded as he always bragged that he never needed to see a doctor since 1984! Today after covering way to many hours worth of work I was finally pulled aside to have a talk to.
After getting the whole BS speal, I was offered the parts dept managers position finally after all these years. I was given the title finally and I'm of course on a trial period till the end of the year to see how our numbers go. So long story short, I'm finally the parts dept manager at my place of work
With that title after all these years, I may open 2gn back up to do online purchases again to get the members to start ordering parts from me Vs the online competitors. This time around though some things will change as I do not want to get some people questioning me as to why I'm using my personal paypal account. So once I get the ball rolling again I may open 2gn back up with purchases by CC only this way I do not have to worry about any paypal transactions and the main office giving me any issues.
Any feedback is appreciated in this topic, I will not of course start any transactions until I get myself situated as a manager at my place of work and once I'm situated I may open the 2gn account back up :)
Any questions or comments are welcome here as I'm posting this as a heads up only for now and further details will follow once I get them...

:withstupid:

The biggest downfall of on line dealers is their shipping charge.

I have been sticking with the locals at list price, because for usually $3.00 more, I can have it the same day, or the next day. Screw waiting a week, for basically the same price, or more on low dollar items.

The times they do have a decent price, after shipping cost, is getting rarer, and rarer.

This is Awesome, Chris. Congrats !!

I think that starting up a 2GN account, and going with CC, is a GOOD idea. 8)
I think it will work, setting it up that way.

Too bad, for your *former* departed co-worker.
He was basically BRAGGING about being "too tough" to see a doctor, ever ?? :-({|=

well work is really trying to move fast into getting me up to snuff on training as a Chrysler parts manager
The past 2 weeks I have been doing the job of 3 parts personnel due to the issue noted above...last week I turned 74hrs and this week 65hrs :banghead:
In the past 2 weeks I have straightened up so much crap that even a manager that has been with us for 6 years has never seen the department look as clean as it does now and I have just put a scratch in the department!
The latest task there going to want me to do is go to this place Sept 19/20 for some Chrysler training:
http://mohegansun.com/meetings/index-mobile.html
holy crap is this place fancy!
It's almost like I'm taking a vacation!
To bad I can't bring the family with me to share this moment and hopefully the higher ups do not ruin this for me by taking my place there for some free time off :banghead: as this is all paid for by Chrysler!
Management also pulled me aside and stated for the longest time they wanted me to move up as dept manager, but not under these circumstances.
In any event, I'll keep my 2gn family posted on how things turn out
And thanks again for all the positive feedback!

PS - any Connecticut members want to meet up, let me know. Granted it is still to early to tell exactly what my schedule is going to be...

Hard work for now but it looks like you'll see the light at the end of the tunnel soon. Hang in there, we're all pulling for you!

So one week in to my officialy new position and I can not believe the crap I'm cleaning up. Management always bragged about the Dept numbers being where they wanted them, its funny the numbers are where they want them yet we stock nothing and constantly run out of common items such as filters and oil :banghead:
Hopeully the next few weeks things smooth out as I get used to the fact that its my department now after all these years

My room is booked and so is my training classes

http://mohegansun.com/gateway/index.html

What really sucks is I looked at my schedule and I have tues the 18th at night to do something, the 19th and 20th I'll be in training all day till around 6pm.
So 2 weeks into being a parts dept manager and so far I have not really done anything more than I have been for years, except now I'm not stepping on anyones toes or working around anyone :)
The Chrysler training coming up in a week, I also did one thing extra, since I can not enjoy the $220 a night room that I have booked, I invited my mother for some R&R. The room includes additional extra's that I will not be able to enjoy since I'll be in training all day. One extra is a Spa thats 22,000 Sq Ft in size  I figured after all these years, I would let my mother enjoy it at no cost to her :D
Anyways, Time to hit the sack as Iv'e worked 6 days this week and I'm beat...Talk to you al later....

I either get a real nice hotel room, or when I went to Ohio for a week, we stayed in a house. They stocked the fridge with beer every day.
