I never got one from him, but similar idea. They know you don't smoke but offer me one. Since I'm shitfaced, I take one or more.esteinmaier wrote:Like Andy? haha... "I see drunk, I need a cigarette!" Then he puts it out on my table.
Then spend next 2 days trying to get the taste out of my mouth, wondering how the fuck people can smoke.

When my late father was in the ICU just before he died, his physician told him that he had added 10 years to his life by quitting smoking when he did (before the Surgeon General's warning in the early 60's), meaning that we probably would have lost him in 1990 instead of in 2000. IIRC, he had smoked at least two packs of unfiltered Camels daily for years. You're smart to quit at a young age.
EDIT due to my mother setting the quit date straight.

I locked myself in my place and hid my keys for that reason. hahaKelevra wrote:So, the question is... How many people did you hit due to cravings in the process?
I did the math, I've spent about 5000 dollars on cigarettes. : (NickKo wrote:My brother quit smoking, and bought himself a WRX with the money he saved !!Skitlz wrote:It is! And my wallet will thank me too!

I smoked for about 40 years, and quit maybe 8 years ago when I got a sore throat that didn't want to go away. I started thinking about my family and thought to myself "this is insane"; haven't had one since, and haven't really missed it. It helps that I don't drink anymore, and don't see people everywhere (like on TV) smoking as often as used to be the case.
I rolled my own with pipe tobacco for the last 20 years -- still have a whole case of good rolling papers lying around somewhere. Using pipe tobacco was much better than regular cigarettes; smelled way nicer, didn't produce as much smoke, and didn't leave a tobacco stench in the clothes, house, etc. Plus I think doing that helped me quit: I smoked way less than I would've otherwise because each cig lasted at least half an hour, and I could put it down and it'd go out, so I could make one last for hours. And it was way, way, way cheaper than buying cigarettes, even when cigs were far less expensive that they are now. Hand-rolled is always better.
So anyway, congrats and don't look back. You're much better off without them.
