Hollywood comes to Glasgow AGAIN with FAST 6! *Vid Added*

Post by haseebgill12 » Fri Aug 24, 2012 1:52 pm

Some of you may remember last year I posted about Brad Pitt filming in my city of Glasgow, Scotland, UK.

That was for the movie World War Z, a couple of weeks after that came Cloud Atlas (Halle Berry, Hugo Weaving and so on) which was literally filmed outside my house. A few weeks after that came Under the Skin (Scarlett Johansson).

So this year comes Fast 6, yes Fast and Furious 6. I think filming starts tomorrow...5 mins from my house so i'l try and get some pics .

My cousin who was a background artist in World War Z and owns a 2jz-GTE Supra, S2000, E39 540 and a Toyota Celica was emailed to be a extra and asked to provide "details" of his vehicles if he wished for them to be featured. Unfortunately he is starting a job at the exact time filming starts. So he had to miss out on this but like I said I will try and get pics guys!

Drove my neon until it was killed in a flood.

Sweet deal...seems like Scotland is getting some much deserved attention again. It's been awhile.

Hope the movie turns out. I actually really liked the 5th one. It was full of action and a decently good plot. Kinda over the top at times, but it's a movie.

Is my r/t not good enough?
Which one lol? P.s I had my head plunged deep into the hoods of Supras and Skylines before I even knew what a Neon was.

But in all seriousness he wont lend me his car(s) for the duration of the shoot. :slap:

So I walked by where the scene is being filmed and from what I have gathered there will be some race/chase scene with a car show room on the side. During the race/chase one of the cars will veer of to the side and crash into the showroom destroying some nice car.

So they have been constructing the "showroom" for a week now I took some pics tonight when I was coming home from the gym.

I believe filming starts next Saturday, I will definitely be checking the cars out then.

Chad- Thanks man, yeah its great getting the attention. Pixars new movie "Brave" seems to have people talking about Scotland as well. I swear this year the tourism has been crazy (Obviously helped by the Olympics). It was pretty surreal seeing (yes I did see some of them) all these "A-listers" in a city which is not known globally. It's been great speaking to all the American tourists, some of the most polite people I have ever spoken to, or maybe I'm just speaking to the "right" ones lol.

Anyway, watch this space for updates.

I think every country has assholes, though. ; )

Sounds pretty awesome! I hope they put more emphasis on racing again, though. And the hokey street racing gatherings. haha

Good to hear you have run into the right ones. There will always be one, so be ready for the most inconsiderate, rude, annoying person to randomly ruin your day. They wont think twice about it or know they are doing it.

Something like this:?

He won't lend you his cars, because after all that influence, you chose a neon!

Just kidding of course. Nothing beats an underdog with attitude.

Even tho there may be a lot of arrogance perhaps, people are still people. Most of us are down to earth.

As promised here is a vid:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/64080518@N04/7890775036/
(let me know if you can access it)

Black Car: E60 M5
Tank Car: Don't know what it is, it is the vehicle The Rock used in the last film.
Police Cars: Vauxhall Vectra
Lead Car: Ok, this thing is incredible, it has a F1 style frame (does not have a shell) and distinctly sounds like a V10. But the best bit, it has both front and rear wheel steering (which seems to be turned on and off by the driver) and can travel diagonally!! I will put up another vid of this later, it is the craziest thing I have ever seen.

More vids to follow.
P.s one of the stunt drivers was the old stig from Topgear, Ben Collins. Who casually walked by me numerous times, as no one except me recognised him :slap:.
Oh forgot to add, gotta love Chinese tourists eh? :slap:

I'm digging the oddball F-1 type car!
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...
