Turbo 2.0 Clutch

Post by ThatKevin » Fri Aug 24, 2012 6:32 pm

Read through a couple project logs on boosted 2L's, but still can't decided on what clutch to use, and it's next on my list.

I see most people go with Spec, but wondering what else there is? Modern has clutchmasters, anything else?

Also, modular vs non-modular?

I'm currently lost :|

A lot depends on what your plans are for the car. For a daily driver, a 2.7 Stratus clutch (modular) should last you fine with some common sense.

If you plan on racing it/lots of boost, then you may need to pony up some more $ for a better set up.

Which leads to better half shafts, etc, etc.

With the non modular, it is going to get a bit more expensive, because you are getting into flywheels that cost the same or more than a modular clutch, plus the disc and PP.

One of my next projects will be doing a flexplate. There are some pretty amazing clutches out there that are quite cheap but there's just no way to get it in there. I'll try to make it a full twin kit under a grand that will handle 1000hp and look pretty.
ASP - First NGC SOHC in the 13s and the 12s. First SOHC neon over 500whp. First NGC Neon on MS.

I'm sure the MTX will handle it, like anything else, to a point.

Don't go with super sticky tires, and you should be fine. You need something to give. For repetitiveness, I would choose traction.
