2002 chrysler neon abs, trac off, and (!) brake light on

Post by 99blacksport » Wed Sep 19, 2012 3:43 pm

Hey guys I picked up a neon at work(Chrysler dealer) for free with a blown motor, dropped a new motor in it to get it running, and now I'm going through the rest of it and the abs, trac off, and (!) brake lights are on in the cluster

This is odd cause i dont believe this car is equiped with abs or traction contol as i cant find an accumulator underhood, So I scanned it with our Chrysler specific scanner, and there is no response from the abs module(probably cause It doesn't exist)

1. If there is an abs module maybe unplugged causing this where would it be?
2. Does my car have abs?
3. Are there any common problems things I should be looking at that cause these lights to come on?

Thanks for the helps guys!

do you have wheel speed sensors? behind each wheel, there should be a speed sensor with a cable running up.

look next to your defrost (rear window) switch. is there a switch for "trac on/off ?

if not, then you don't have ABS :)

Possibly the PCM is wired for it, and that wire has been grounded. It would then illuminate trac on/off. But since it isn't there, possibly the (!) brake light is showing the fault.
