Sorry for the rant- I'm just pretty p***** off right now.
When my cousin was out of work, he cut his leg somehow, it got a massive infection. The bill was $5000 +. He was like i have no way to pay that. Somehow, the guy put him through as a minority, and it was covered for most of it. :tardbang:

Maybe you should develop an accent.

The way I see it, if you have paid your taxes into the system, you should be able to get something back when you are down on your luck. Better than it going to those that have never paid a dime into it.

Yeah, and be here illegally since it seems that they have our government bending over backwards for them.

It's pretty simple. We say put money into the pot if you want to. Or if you don't, just pull some out. While that works in a penny tray at the gas station, it doesn't work so well when it's enough money to live on. Some will indulge, some will not. But the tray has been empty for a long time and it's being refilled off borrowed money. I say it's time that if you don't have the money, you don't get your coffee. Sorry you are tired.

Now don't take that as opponents have taken Romney's 47% comments. I realize that people taking the handouts will disagree with me. It's their free ride after all they are defending. I just think that if you need help for a good reason, we should help you, not make you dependent on our money.

The problem with that is, how much do you get out? Lots of people want to rely on social security when they get older and expect that they'll get $X, even if they maybe worked 5 years and barely paid into SS.

I saw a picture on facebook recently that said something like "What entitlements? I paid CASH for my social security insurance"

Just HOW MUCH cash? If you paid in $10k in your lifetime, how are you entitled to $20k/year?

Social Security? What's that? I've been paying in since 1974 and I'll never see anything from it.

Sorry folks, maybe I shouldn't post until I get out of this negative mood. :banghead:

Well IDK about you, but SS sends me a statement every year, as to "How much" a month I have earned.

More like "This is what you would have been getting, if we hadn't spent it for you".

So there should be no question as to what you might receive, for retirement anyways.

How do you get that? Just curious, I'm planning as if I won't get SS. Of course I just raided my 401(k) but I'll post up why in 2 weeks.

I get that statement as well. I didn't do anything to get it, it just started showing up a few years ago.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

I too get one but I imagine that SS will be kaput before I will be old enough to collect (not that I'm ever going to retire- y'all will see me saying hello at the entrance of a Wal-Mart some day).
