Ok, need help ASAP.

Post by dvon17 » Sun Sep 30, 2012 7:06 pm

So, my car shut off and won't turn back on.

When it does, it'll only idle. Gave it a little gas and it shuts off as soon as it gets to 2K rpms or higher.
<--that's what I'm driving btw

It's getting spark, fuel and its breathing fine. Idk wtf it could be lol

I'm not good with diagnosing anything. Did this LAST Sunday too. Not throwing a code but I got (p0320) and (p0123) from the key dance.

TPS and CPS, correct?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yea the p320 code (crank position sensor) is likely your issue. They will cause intermittent starting and running issues when they start to go bad. The p123 (throttle position sensor) shouldn't cause the issues you are describing but i could be wrong. I would start by changing the cps

Found the problem. The plug harness was wet, took that off and it started up just fine and is running with no problems. Thanks for the reply. Gonna go ahead and replace the sensor on Thursday.

How old are the spark plugs? Do you hear the fuel pump priming when you turn the key to the on position?

If you say it's getting spark, fuel and its breathing fine, then I would start by changing the CPS

Yep it's getting spark and spark plugs are good. I crawled under and disconnected the plug and it was wet. Dried that off and reconnected and it started right up and is running great again. Almost missed our trip to Buffalo Wild Wings!

Is the seal missing on the connector? Otherwise you should be able to run it under water, and not have any problem. Those connectors are pretty water tight when in proper shape.

Edit:
$12 will get you a new connector at AZ, that you could just slip the seal off and put it on yours, So no cutting and splicing would be needed, unless the are other issues with the oem connector.

Plugs are good. Only about 2 months old. NGK Iridiums.

Plug was fine. We even had a hard time getting it off lol. I'm guessing the power washer in the wheel well is a bad idea. I just wanted it clean lol
