Hahn racecraft turbo kit for 03 and up Neon

Post by fastback79 » Fri Jan 27, 2006 11:33 pm

My 03 sxt has 20k miles on the engine. Does the Hahn turbo kit for 03 and up work with my stock motor? Or do I have to rebuild the engine to handle this kit?

will be fine unless your thinking of running more than 250wtq i believe that would be the stage 3 setup

I'm only looking for 7lbs of boost. Want to keep it down to only around 60hp.

depends theres a kit running around here for 1500 cheaper and after you build up your bottom end get some minor mods and run 300whp.. so its your choice i suppose but is boost worth it? ask many of the guys around here if it is ;)

save some money and just part up an srt setup. prolly less than half the cost of the intercooled hahn kits.

but a turbo 2.0 is so much COOLER than a srt. thats the easy was out IMO (not that i wouldnt take it in a second!). i wanna go turbo on my neon eventually, but not till i can get a computer system to support custom maps and the works. I dont just wanna be limited to low boost, but heck, any boost is good boost. Built motor is a must IMO too, too risky stock (unless u run flat 7-8lbs and make sure the fuel system is up to par. anyone actually have the Hahn kit?

orange i was talking about a turbo 2.0, just using the srt turbo setup which can be had with fuel system for around 1500 if u look inthe right spots, compared to the 3k for the hahn kit. now it might not be the way to go if ur new to turbo because then ull have more of a chance to screw something up.

oh really i didnt know u could do that with the srt shiz on a 2.0. wouldnt that make for some problems? lots of custom piping and shit for the IC? would the FMIC even fit? hmm.

Well, the SRT-4 custom turbo setup is out, and I have no knowledge of what I would need to go that route.....for me, that Hahn setup is perfect for me because I plan to just change the Pistons and rods and throw the turbo setup on in the future.....more easier for me and less time consuming.........can these hahn turbos handle 15+ pounds of boost?

actually if u look around the fi its pretty easy. get an adapter for the manifold. u can use the intercooler and hot pipe. have to fab up a new cold pipe due to tb location though. other than that all line plumb in like normal. pretty much same install as any other turbo kit. just gotta make sure you get allthe parts rather than open a box and *hopefully* have all the parts there. it does happen that places like hahn or cf forget to include a few small parts, which is why i say hopefully.

What I want to know is if the automatic transmission can handle a mild stage 1 kit.

From what I know, it should, but first you should look into a RMVB ( Reverse Manual Valve Body) from Turboaction.com from what I have heard, this thing is awesome! If you have the 3 speed, its PRND21....this changes it to PRN123......but, by leaving it in "D", it will not shift for you, you will be in 1st gear all the way....its like a clutchless manual transmission.

hope that hepls!

yea i would only stick to 5lbs of boost is you run that turbo on the stock motor......any higher its best to change out pistons, rods, and gasket. Also look into a srt 4 swap much cheaper and you can go 350hp + on the srt 4 block. :D
