Exhaust and headers

Mucho thanks guys for the help before. I got my AEM CAI now!

Now I'm wanting to get some headers and a catback exhaust. Anyone recommend a some good hearers or exhaust? I hear Borla and Apexi are top notch shit. What size is the 05 Neon SXT (atx if it makes a different, doubt it though) exhaust? 2''? 2.25"? 2.5"? Helpz, pleaze, thankz!

second gens have 2.25 inch exhaust, and its wise to stay between 2.25 and 2.5 inch for NA applications. for turbo its a different story and depends on what youre running. as far as catbacks, i have the apexi and i love it. some people run srt exhaust, some go for borla and thermal. i think dc sports makes a good one too. lots to choose from. most are dual, but i prefer one big straight thru (hence apexi). if u wanna know more about how the apexi performs feel free to ask me. If you wanna save money, shoot for a srt exhuast or rear section, or a universal muffler of your choice. the stock neon piping is good for low to mid power apps so its not too big a deal to go for a new catback. anyways as far as headers go, theres a ton of em. i hear the fastfabs long tube is the shit, but apparently hard to find. anyone else care to answer the header Q? good luck

i'm running OBX header and DP, now alot of people complain about the header fitment. I, personally had no problems with it. It took less than an hour to install.... never dyno'd so i can't tell you the exact gains, but the ass dyno said that there's deffenetly some gains.

ive heard a bit about that header. so is it worth it db? where did u buy it?

btw, what is OBX? they sure make a lot of neon shit, do they have a website? another mpx or something?

nah, OBX is a real company... Modern or Howell sell them for 200 bucks, i can't remember who's got them, but i picked them up from some company who had them on eBay for 140...

Some companies sell name brand on eBay... its really not bad... you just gotta watch out for some of the no-name stuff. OBX is the real deal.

wow, there more cali members on the board now.

but dont get a longtube it will require you to rellocate your cat or remove it completly. BTW there is a new law that any officer can give you a ticket about exhaust noise if THEY think its too loud, they dont even have to measure it. i would jsut get the OBX header if you can get it cheap, and get a SRT or R/T exhaust. or get a magnum header, which is basicly/comparable to a borla header.

i did get pulled over here in IL for my exhaust on my previous car (stratus coupe) f-n cop was a rookie.

cop-"the reason i pulled you ove was because of you tint and your exhaust"

me- "yeah, i know my tint is a little too dark.... i realized that when i did my driver's window and thats why i never did the passenger's window.... but the exhaust, whats wrong with it? i know it cant exceed a certain amount of decibels... i just don't know the exact number"

cop- "its not stock.... thats illegal... and if you don't believe me, you can go fight it in court"

me- "if thats the case.... then i'll take you word for it"

cop-"here you go... have a nice day"

then i went straight to the PD.... complained on hes ass to his super... super took my ticket and ripped it up.

there is more to the story, but the moral of it is.... its good to have served you country and have 'veteran' plates.

cops on cali are worse, now there gonna be cracking down harder on modified cars. there now training certains PDs, on what to search for and what is illegal.

i have heard that a magnum header, header from an r/t is a good upgrade, especially for the price. find someone on the forsale section that is selling theirs and get it dirt cheap.

That sucks about the cops in cali. I'm pretty sure I wouldnt pass emissions now either. I guess if anything ever happens about it I will just do like I was thinking and re-register my car to minnesota.

80dB is the noise level it cannot exceed. it varies per location but thats the general rule. i've fought exhaust tickets with my borla on my 1g.

in cali its 95db, but the new law about. if the cop/officer thinks its too loud in his opinion then he can give you ticket for loud exhaust noises and send you to the state ref.

An Apexi exhaust looks pimp. I would like dual, but a single is great too. Anyone recommend a certain exhaust? Borla or Apexi brand is what I'm looking for. Also a link to these parts would be great cuz again I suck at searching (trust me I've tried to no avail). What purpose do headers serve?

type in apexi or borla in google... thaqt is your BEST chance of search.
