Unsafe start

So today I got pulled over for my exhaust and "unsafe start" (tires spun a little). Has anyone got this ticket in ny? what happen in court.

Trying to get an idea of how big of a deal it is..[/b]

Wow that a first ... Um I believe you can get ticket for have a full exhaust system without a cadi converter.or if you have straight pipe...

improper muffler, or exhaust tickets are super common and annoying. Most people just pay the fine and ignore it, it doesn't really affect anything other than your wallet.

Up here, spinning tires (even if it's a little) is stunt driving -______- fine + you lose points

I got one of those a long time ago, but in texas they call it exhibition of acceleration. Can't remember if I paid the fine or waited for a warrant to be issued and serve the jail time. This was like 12 years ago so I vaguely remember, just one of many tickets when I was younger.

Yes tires squealed some. He was hidden a couple cars back. Not sure if he heard the squealing or just heard me getting on it. Going to plead not guilty and see what they say in court

In my experience its better to plead no contest and apologize for being an idiot than it is to plead not guilty. You know you did it, why fight it? I've had more luck owning up to stuff than denying it, seems they are more lenient that way.

You say not guilty and they are going to ask for a full explanation of you essentially calling the cop a liar.

Here they give you a pre-trial conference with a assistant da, they give you soome options and you can take it to court if you'd like. If you plead "no contest" (guilty), the judge let's you say something, and I've had a couple dropped completely or reduced.

Only once did I go all-out not-guilty. But that was for a ticket for driving with revoked registration. Registration got revoked due to unpaid parking ticket. Paid ticket, took 6 weeks for the registration to get reinstated and I got pulled over 4 weeks after I paid the ticket. Got ticket for revoked registration, and warnings for 2 bald tires, no front plate, not changing my address, stuff hanging from mirror, and a nitrous bottle in the trunk lol. It got dropped on my 3rd trip to court by a confused ADA wondering why I was even there with receipts for paid ticket and everything that I showed the cop and judge.

In ny, u plea guilty by signing the ticket and sending it in. u don't go to court. Atleast pleading not guilty will give me some kind of chance at getting it reduced our talking to the DA or judge

It's called caution starting from stop and if you didn't have video rolling its your word versus his.

Pay it suck it up is the best you can do....I've had a few of those.

Tried to fight one that was a burnout on private property on wet ground and intentional.....my argument car was never moving and there was no intention of going anywhere....just an in place burnout.

It's a losing battle.

yeah pretty much it would be your word against the cops. <-losing battle there. but as far as possibly getting it reduced im not sure what a reduction in such a minor traffic offense would be anyway. I would just pay it and keep it moving. Being pulled over for loud exhaust is silly. I believe the cops would have to have a decible reader to be able have any proof to such an accusation (think thats how its spelled lol). anyway good luck with that. let us know what happens

Pretty sure every state has a law against peeling out. I know in Wisconsin its "excessive display of power". My mom got one in the red Trans Am we had for a short amount of time.

Just a update on this.. Plead not guilty, sent it in, went to court tonite and the DA dropped it down to a parking ticket! Worked in my favor, no points

yay congrats! haha this almost happened to me in CT. new clutch and a wet road. She spun quite a bit right in front of a cop that had already pulled someone over.
