Vacuum pressure?

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Vacuum pressure?

Post by Yellow04r/t » Wed Jan 09, 2013 12:06 am

Anyone have an idea of what the vacuum pressure should be in a fairly stock r/t? My vacuum pod reads 20 inHG, just wanting to know if that's right or if my guage is wrong or if something is wrong with the car thanks guys!

The amount of vacuum in your system at any given time depends on the throttle position and load. If you are at wide open throttle and high load, you will have very little vacuum. Basically atmospheric.

20in is very standard manifold vacuum at idle. Actually a little on the high side, indicating the car is in good tune and you don't have any leaks. 10-16 inHG while cruising.
