Lowering and bottoming out is due to springs and bump stops. If you want to lower your car, struts wont do it. Though, a lowered car on stock struts rarely last. Bottoming out wise, if you lower your car, i recommend going with smaller bump stops or cutting your stock ones down a bit.

its lowered via coilover (sleves) and i cut my bumpstop almost in half, but it seems that i can't go very low or at least as low as i would want to be, due to bottoming out.nodestiny wrote:Lowering and bottoming out is due to springs and bump stops. Well, Im just about done installing mine. Yes, Im painting the strut housings yellow. I paid too much for these things, and I want to show them off. lol
Anyway, I didnt use a hammer to beat the inserts into the housing. I turned the strut upside down and used a press to push them in. worked like a champ and only took about 12 seconds to do each one. Only problem Ive had so far is finding a way to not cover myself in the fluid from the stock struts and getting the holes in the bottom centered. I had to ream a couple of them out after I pressed in the insert to get the retaining bolt in. But all is well and Ill be rockin my Konis and rear disc brakes by the end of the day.

No. The koni is a compleatly self contained unit. Basically, the yellow part of the koni that fits inside the stock strut housing is the same as the black strut housing of the stock strut. Which is why when you rip into the stock struts there is oil that comes out (and makes a big mess if youre not prepared for it.)BlackRoseRacing wrote:But one thing not mentioned is, do you refill it with a gas, fluid something?

Just a tip on the insert install. Seat the Koni just to the lip of the old strut seat old strut on ground and throw it in, as if you were trying to throw the Koni through the bottom of the strut. Goes in under a second.
