Mufflers on SRT-4's? non-SRT pedals on SRT-4's?
I just realized that my '03 SRT-4 doesn't have the aluminum pedals with the rubber bumps, but instead has normal non-SRT pedals. Are the fancy pedals just on a later year?
Also, I saw not one but two SRT-4's with MUFFLERS... dual tips, and a sideways can like an R/T has. My 2003 has NO mufflers, just pipes and two resonators. Did some years get a muffler?

Perrin exhaust

04+ had the metal pedals (although my 03 has them for some reason) and no, SRTs never came from the factory with mufflers

I added a muffler to the mid-pipe of my SRT-4 because the noise was excessive. It's much more pleasant to drive with the Moroso spiral flow muffler.
I guess the Thermal & Perrin mufflers were added for the same reason

I actually met a local guy that's running a base Neon exhaust and muffler with false SRT tips. But he has an electronic cut-out in the downpipe O:
Totally silent when it's closed. It's fantastic.

Lol, are the tips just attached to the rear crash bar some how?
An SRT-D muffler might be an easier way to accomplish that, but IDK if the SRT-D tip spacing is the same as the R/T, or SRT.
IIRC, they are quieter than the R/T, but still have the dual outlets. It is a different PN for sure.

Probably shouldn't listen to anything your penis says, that guy's a dick.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.

same spacing as R/T. Same muffler I think, just different inlet size iirc.
As for the local, it's probably this guy. They are just attached to the crashbar

Nah, not really... I had a 1G DSM and the exhaust exited just behind the passenger side front wheel (and tucked in a bit)... left the muffler/tips just for stock appearances

So then the Ebay ones will be loud as f*ck.....
Has anyone here used the Ebay ones?

How can this OBX one be a good design when it necks down well before the Y-junction?

That looks like a "cheap" exhaust ... I can't tell if that would be much louder than stock ... the original SRT-4 exhaust depends on both the turbocharger and the catalytic converterArro wrote:So then the Ebay ones will be loud as f*ck.....

to reduce sound. When the catalytic converter is deleted, the car may be unbearably loud and raspy. Good aftermarket mufflers, like Flowmaster don't cause much back pressure,
compared to the original catalytic converter.

R/T and SRT-D Exhausts are identical (P/N differences aside) same sound, same tip spacing, same size muffler and inlet, etc.
SRT tips are spaced further apart than the R/T style muffler, but if you rolled your bumper on the SRT, you could make it work, but I'd be hesitant as the extra exhaust flow may make it sound different, or may cause a loss of power.

Yeah I don't want to do that. I like that the SRT exhaust is mufflerless, I only wish the other mufflerless styles on E-gay didn't go:
3" ----> 2.5" ---> Y-split ---> 2.5" dual outlets
and instead were 3" all the way to the Y-split, and THEN 2.5 out each section. The way they do it by going 2.5 before the Y, they go back to a bottleneck and then what was the point of going 3" before that, right?
I suppose someone with a welder could hack out the 2.5" section before the Y, and replace it with 3" all the way into the Y-splitter. I have a welder. I could probably do it with some time.

It also looks stupid, so that's another reason not to do it. this guy did it and I did it one my silver car for a whileCanada wrote: SRT tips are spaced further apart than the R/T style muffler, but if you rolled your bumper on the SRT, you could make it work, but I'd be hesitant as the extra exhaust flow may make it sound different, or may cause a loss of power.

If you like the mufflerless exhaust, the stock pipes will work fine, unless you heavily modify the engine, and/or remove the catalytic converter ...Arro wrote:Yeah I don't want to do that. I like that the SRT exhaust is mufflerless, I only wish the other mufflerless styles on E-gay didn't go:

I changed my exhaust because I "got a deal" on a used set of Mopar exhaust pipes.

Didn't Mox move on to a Subie?
Yeah I dunno that design is kinda... odd. It's like a single pipe system with the passenger side outlet as an afterthought. There are some of those style systems on Ebay, too.
The more I think about it, the more I like my original thought to hack out the restriction between the 3" section and the Y-splitter on an OBX-style system. But for now, I like what Colonel said about just keeping my OEM exhaust system. I don't have any reason to worry about that now when there are so many other little things to fix/upgrade.
Also, I agree that the R/T exhaust on middle-tucked SRT bumpers looks odd.

Boooooooo. Mitsubishi and I have a very unhappy past. They build exciting cars that don't hold up over time as evidences by every generation Evo and DSM before the X.
