east coast folks
So I'm going to Carlisle this year, and the following week I'd like to explore the east coast some around that area with my girl (she'll be at carlisle too). So virginia, nc, sc, maybe maryland, etc. What are some good beaches, amusement parks, etc. We'll have the whole next week from the end of carlisle until probably friday or saturday, then we'll head home to wisconsin.
well i live right by the fairgrounds so i can show you pretty much anything locally, i've lived in the general area my whole life. closest amusement park is Hershey, its pretty nice they've added a lot of new rides, little pricey but if you do it plan on a full day to try and see everything. While you're in hershey visit the aaca museum since you're a car buff.
closest nice beach would probably be atlantic city, but i'm not sure how "nice" anything is anymore after the hurricane came through...
Not sure if you like to gamble but there is a large casino just past hershey called hollywood casino, nice place they have slots and board games.
anything else you might be interested in?

Just looking for ideas. We wanna go on a vacation this summer and she wants it seperate from any "work" trip but there's only a 6-week window where her mom can watch her daughter so adding it onto the Carlisle trip appears the only way we can do it. She's not all that into cars so once the Carlisle show is over there will be no car stuff lol. Amusement parks, beaches, etc. We're willing to drive further, so down to S Carolina isn't a problem.
I'll check out those links, thanks.

There is always Busch Gardens in Williamsburg VA. Its been a long time since I've been there but when I went it was a blast. While you are there, you could visit the colonial town of Williamsburg if you are into that stuff.

Six Flags in NJ. They have a drive through 'safari' with all sorts of animals including the destructive monkeys.

That's basically all I know of the southern east coast for amusement parks (except the aforementioned Hersey Park). If you are into the historical site seeing, there is Gettysburg PA. Not much to look at besides fields and plaques.

Ocean City, MD, is a good place to visit for a day or two. We like to go first to Assateague National Seashore to hang out near the surf and away from most of the people for the day, then go over to OC (it's only about a 10-min drive) for the evening to eat, shop, go on some rides, etc.
Gettysburg is pretty amazing if you take a few hours to learn what happened there so you can appreciate what you're looking at. And if you walk the whole battlefield you'll get in a very good day of exercise for sure.
Baltimore has the Inner Harbor, which is a conglomeration of shops and eateries that cater to tourists. There you can visit the U.S.S. Constellation (an old sailing ship from the Civil War), a WW2 submarine, there's a cool science museum with an Imax theater, and the National Aquarium is located there as well. There's also Ft. McHenry of The Star Spangled Banner fame; and many museums and art galleries.
