2nd Engine mount bracket threads stripped

Post by akirony » Fri Apr 26, 2013 10:53 pm

Apparently the mount bolt welded it's end threads to the mount bracket's middle threads so during removal to change the mount the bolt pulled out every thread behind it. It left me with 1/2in. of threads in the bracket. Has anyone ever tapped their bracket and rolled with it or do I need another? On my first bracket I stuck with about 3/4in. left with no problems but didnt want to use that when my new engine had a good threaded bracket. Ive bought 3 mount bolts already(back ups).

I would go JY hunting, if you can get one cheap.

You could have it heli coiled, or a time sert put in at a shop. For the price of either kit to do it, it probably will be cheaper to have it installed for you.

Its the right engine mount (not torque struts) for an 04 R/T 2.0. The mount bracket is stripped out onto the bolt. Im replacing the mount monday but I need to get a good bracket to hold it or try and reuse the current one.
