Dodge dealer oil change special.
Dodge dealer oil change special.
04 Neon SE.
I get these oil change specials from my local dodge/Chrysler dealer for 19.99.
I usually do oil changes myself and steer clear of stealerships, but 19.99 seems a OK price for 3K OCI?

You cannot hardly buy the oil and filter for $20, let alone have someone else do it for you. Hopefully a dealer tech would be smart enough not to strip the drain plug.
They mainly run those specials to get customers in, so they can check the car for any additional items that need attention. Then try to sell you on the service. It is a good way to see if there are any problems you may have missed.
Our daughter took her neon to an oil change place that had an oil change for $1. They told her about a few things that needed attention, and really didn't make any false claims about what was in need of work.
Of course I had to fix the issues, but at least they didn't blatantly try to rip her off. Plus they even used synthetic blend. Not bad for a buck.

Probably shouldn't listen to anything your penis says, that guy's a dick.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.

and that's why i do my own work... brand new 03 sebring lxi and the $19.99 dealer special didn't check to make sure the old oil filter gasket came off with the filter. It was leaking between the 2 oil filter gaskets... rattle rattle, hmmm why is the wife's car two quarts low???occasional demons wrote: Hopefully a dealer tech would be smart enough not to strip the drain plug.
The last TWO vans that we bought both had recent oil change stickers from "reputable service station". One i twisted a box end wrench on the oil plug the other was hopelessly stripped.
As a rule if i can do it myself i will.

So FYI. I went to the dealer for this oil change special. With tax it was 24.28.Midnight_Rider wrote:Never been offered that at the dealerships where I go. Of course, I always bring my own oil (Mobil 1) so I wouldn't qualify. Does sound like a good deal for you though.
They used mopar filter # 4105409 - BC and OIL had a part # 68055891 - AA. (I guess it's some 5w30 bulk oil)
Interesting part was they told these "Recommended services"
1. change spark plugs - $132.50 (Dang copper plugs are under 8 bucks!)
2. transmission service - $236
3. PS fluid service - $130
4. fuel system service - $140
I pretended as thought I know nothing about cars

That's why dealers get a bad rap.
$33 each to remove, gap, and install a $2 plug ... yeah.
I could see it if you had to remove half the engine to do it. But not for a 2.0 Edit: I bet if they charged $50 to change them they would have no issues selling the service. And still make money.
But like I said, that is the reason for those oil change specials. Because for some of those dealers, it's about the only way they can attract something besides warranty work.

peopel say why dont i change my own oil.
I said i get it done for $20 locally
if im taking the time to set up jacks and what not and then buying oil/filter i end up paying like $3 an hour to myself.
Sure people like to do it. Good on you. Some also want to know its done right cause if they dont tighten a drain plug you can burn an engine. Well, good on you too
