Ok guys looking for someone close to me that has air tools and wouldn't mind giving me a hand with putting on my lowering springs, If anyone here is close and wouldn't mind helping me out I will return the favor.

just an FYI... you don't NEED air tools to put lowering springs on. I've done it with just hand tools every time. that said if you can use someones air tools or have them do it for you, that will be easier for sure.

Ok I have been told its a PITA with just hand tools but if it can be done fairly easy with hand tools I will give it a go, Just scares me fucking with compressed springs for the first time.sidepipe87 wrote:just an FYI... you don't NEED air tools to put lowering springs on. yup a helper and a impact wrench, no spring compressor needed. putting the rears on is useful with an extra set of hands. the knuckle likes to twist from the trailing arm.cdewalt1985 wrote:Ok I have been told its a PITA with just hand tools but if it can be done fairly easy with hand tools I will give it a go, Just scares me fucking with compressed springs for the first time.
I also like a tapered punch to knock out the bolts and to line them up.
sure you dont "need" air or a helper but... if you can get it you should be able to get it done in ~90mins. good luck.

I assume you are zipping the nut off the strut before removing them from the car.
And praying it does come off. We used an impact on the Caliber struts, and still had to double vise grip the rod to get the nut off. At least they were already shot. This was out of the car with compressor installed.
The plus with lowering springs, is you no longer need a spring compressor to take the assembly apart. So you shouldn't need an impact to reassemble, and it is not a good idea on a new strut anyways.

Probably shouldn't listen to anything your penis says, that guy's a dick.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.

I am using my stock struts but I am going to remove the struts, compress the springs, and use a spark plug socket with 1/4 inch drive goin thru it to remove the strut piston from the top hatoccasional demons wrote:I assume you are zipping the nut off the strut before removing them from the car.
