well i finally got all my gear through elemental, and have 30 days to have pictures of a completed install ready for them. all the sound deadening, power wires, etc. i am doing myself.. and i was considering trying my hand at the box and panels, but with my limited resources and lack of time plus some trial and error, i doubt i could have something "show presentable" done in a month.
i went down to a local shop i know to do good work, and told them what i wanted. NO FIBERGLASS!! Instead, a panel behind the rear seats to seal off the trunk from the cabin, and the two 12" subs firing into the cabin from a sealed box.. all of that wrapped in vinyl. The trunk will be panelled (sp?) off.. across the back of the box, floor, and sides at an angle to match the contours of the trunk.. with two amps flush mounted somewhere. All that trunk stuff covered in factory-colored carpet and somewhat removable so i could get to the strut towers if needed.
Clean and Simple, my philosophy.
He told me it would take them 3 full days to complete it (with me having ran all the wires already), coming out to a grand total of $1250 for labor and all materials (no tax)
now, never having had a GOOD shop do a PROFESSIONAL install.. i have no idea if/how bad they are screwing me. can anyone shed some light on this for me?

I had mine professionally done, but my situation was a bit different...
I did the bottom mold of the trunk myself before hand...took about a day to do (fiberglass that is). I alreayd had the subwoofer I wanted to use at the time, extra battery and all the extra resin and fiberglas sheets that would be needed to finish the top part of the box, and to seal it.
Im not sure what everything cost individually, because I got a great hookup, but I do know that for 2 Bostwick amps, all new raptor tsunami wiring kit, including 0 gauge wire running up to the front for the main fuse, installation of the sub inverted, flush mounted amps in a false floor, carpeted, sound deadening in box and barely any labor, it ran me about $1200...but most of that was just the amps and the wiring kit...he barely charged me any labor, maybe $100 or so for that.
But it took him about a week and a half, and it was very time consuming...they also installed all my speakers in the car at the same time, and did everything except hook the sub and amps up to my headunit (Was on a rush for a big show that weekend).
Id say for that price, its not bad, because making all of that removable will have take time, materials arent that cheap sometimes...youll be happy w/ it in the end, well worth it. I was lucky enough to have a hookup. if there are any other shops around you, Id get quotes from them too, and if they are cheaper, go back to the first shop (Since you said they do really good work) and tell them what the other place said, and maybe theyll beat their price just to get your business
either way, sounds like a good idea and im sure it will look great when you are done

my install ranged about a thousand and thats them relocating my air bag system and installing of the wires and two amps and that was a deal combined with other work i had done. so $1200 is damn good for an install, is this all fiber glassed work if so that really good. good luck.
