New Wheels/Tires Arrived Today! (Exel RH-5's)

Post by 03sxt » Fri Feb 03, 2006 5:43 pm

UPS dropped off my new wheels & tires from WheelMax about an hour and a half ago. I just finished test fitting them to make sure WheelMax got everything right... They did, of course. :) I'll be posting an initial review under the 'Parts Reviews' forum soon. These are just pictures from the test fitment I did with only one wheel. Damn I can't wait for the warm weather to roll around... If the meteorologists here weren't predicting a snow storm tomorrow, these bad daddies would be going on and staying on. Anyways, on with the pics.

What you're looking at: ;)
Exel RH-5 wheels in 'Hyper Light' wrapped with Toyo Proxes FZ-4 205/40/17 tires.

Comparing the stock wheels & tires to the new ones...

Another comparison...

Yet ANOTHER comparison...

All mounted and ready to go... (Center cap not shown)

All we need now is warm weather... And the center caps snapped on. :P

Let me know what you guys think! (As always...)

Thanks, man. I was hoping the lip was going to be a bit bigger, but I still love 'em. And yes, these are pretty heavy. Not sure of the actual weight, but these wouldn't be the smartest wheels if you were looking for weight reduction. :P

I wish it had shinier lip - I don't care what kinda' extra cleaning it would take... :) At least at first anyways. And yeah, I have four huge boxes in my living room right now... :(

Thanks and yeah they are gonna' look good. Looking real close at the wheels, you can definitely tell I didn't pay huge bucks for them... I'll post more detailed info when I do a 'Parts Review' when I go to put them on when it gets warmer... When I pull the wheels from the boxes, I'll get closer detailed pics to show you guys what I mean.

Really nice rims, planning a drop sometime soon? Haha either way it doesn't look bad though.

You should move to Florida haha, I don't have to change to winter wheels or anything like that : )

 The car's already lowered 1.5" front and back... So no, I'm not. :) Eventually I might go for some lower coils, but I'm plenty happy with the current drop. Actually, the wife and I are thinking about moving to Florida... Not sure if I want to yet. The main reason is because all of my family is here in Ohio. :?

Those tires look bigger than mine. Oh well.

The wheels look great! I can't wait to get new ones--as soon as I have money. And I'm glad the wheelmax transaction went well. They're a possibility for me.

Thanks man! The wife said close to the same thing... But I told her, the dirtyness from the snow isn't the issue - It's the fact that we'd get stuck with 3" of snow on the ground with these tires.

Yeah, after seeing the BBB report, I was a little weary, but they do have quite the volume in sales and they handled the sale really well. I just don't like the fact that they don't tell you the wheels shipped until they're in your living room. I got an email yesterday saying that they were shipped... About 2 hours after UPS dropped them off. (I called Wednesday and asked if they could track it for me and they did and told me the scheduled delivery date so I knew what day to wait up for UPS - I sleep during the day normally.)

I paid $76.95 each for the tires. What are your thoughts on the tires? Quiet? Ride nice? Thanks!

i personally like them, but i cant really compare them to anything becaues these are the only tires ever used on my neon. but i like them, i havent had a chance to push them hard yet. only 1 of my friends did, i couldnt believe how it handled. the tires are not all that noisey, but thats the trade off you get when swithing to low pros. one thing i can tell you tho, is watch out for potholes, i have bunch of them on freeways and streets here. and already had to replace 2 tires becaues of them.
