MTX lube

Post by isaac004 » Mon Sep 20, 2004 5:36 pm

So I'm at 58k miles, lots of highway and autox, and I'm thinkin about changing my tranny fluid to see if I can get the slightly notchy shifting smoother. My current factory fill is Mopar MTF (I think it was late 01 when MTX factory fill was switched to ATF, but I checked mine and it was still the $15 per qt MTF). I want to try something different, partly for price. I was thinking of Royal Purple SynchroMax, or maybe a Amsoil or Redline MTF. Any recommendations or well backed up insight?

well, i currently have redline and love it. i swapped to it at about 60k or so, then when i did my clutch and flywheel, put the mopar stuff in it (bout $11 a quart  ) ran it for about a week, then got sick of not being able to shift 1st to 2nd anywhere near fast (it just would not go in quick) i put redline back in and have been very happy. im currently at 104k and tranny has zero problems.

i have a 2004 and it uses the atf. what about synthetics for that? right now i am looking at amsoil universal synthetic atf that is approved for atf+4. what does everyone think or what are you using instead of the factory fill atf+4? sorry to venture away from your original question but i figured it still goes under mtx lube. i have heard many people using the redline mtl on neons.org and they like it. unfortunatly im in a different boat with having to use the atf+4.

I've only got about 1,000 miles on the Redline. My car is a 2K2 with 44K. The Redline improved the shift feel and smoothness.
