installing power options

Post by apk2k6 » Mon Feb 06, 2006 4:06 pm

I have all the parts needed to install the power locks/windows, but installing them is going to be the problem. Hooking it up shouldnt be too bad, the plugs just go into the door panel, but mounting the door actuators and window motor is where I'm lost. Anyone know how to do this?? Or at least point me to a guide or something, I don't really want to pay $200+ just to get this installed, thanks

I tried to do this ages ago when I got my neon, but the dealer said that the WHOLE WIRING HARNESS HAD TO BE CHANGED! the harness does not have the plug ins for power locks or windows....in case you would like to buy the harness, it costs 850 from the dealer!

Dude are you serious? I'll ask the guy I bought it from I guess, or some other places. So I need the whole dash harness? Ahhh that sucks if it's true. I have the door harnesses already though

PFT Make your own harness. Get a wiring diagram for it and wire up your power, grounds, switch wires, and transfer wires for other windows. Lil bit of a project but not worth 850 >.<

Agreed... easiest way if you can't just plug it in is to wire them into a 12V switched source. Swapping a whole dash harness is too much of a PITA

Well I got to looking, and the new connector thing has 4 prongs, and the old one had 2. So no big deal, but the harness I plug it into only has 2 prongs as well, that match up with the old connector, so I may need a dash harness. Here are some pics:

Connected to dash harness, only has 2 prongs.

Sorry they came out blurry :\
