2005 srt for 3500$ worth it?

Post by Ramroid » Mon Sep 23, 2013 2:56 am

So. There's an srt on craigslist near me for 3500$. Car has 189k miles, but was recently rebuilt. 20k since rebuild. Needs a new door(cosmetic) needs the turbo rebuilt, and 3rd gear rebuilt.

It's mildly built, but not too far from stock. Mostly bolt ons. How much would it cost to have the tranny done? I'm assuming the clutch is fine. The turbo rebuild isn't too bad, my dad can do that easily. So, all in all. Worth the 3500$?

Just my 2 cents. Personally I would buy it. Not sure of the cost to rebuild the tranny, but again, to ME it would be worth it. There is an SRT near me that seems a better deal tho. It has only 121,000miles. Also has cosmetic problems, needs both front fenders. The car is red and looks well maintained. Fenders would be easy to get. This is not my car but someone on the Knoxville cl. I would have it in as heartbeat if I wasn't poor as a church mouse. Most here go for $7,000 to $10,000. The one I mentioned is $3,500. I wish you luck if you buy the one you are talking about. The only real thing that would put me off a bit is the mileage.

Yeah, the only thing that put me off was the miles. He did a full rebuild at 150k. Top end, bottom end, cooling system. Full fluids. The tranny wouldn't be too bad, I might be able to talk him down to 3k in cash. Money talks after all. I can do the turbo myself, that's not an issue. The door has a ding in it. I have a full 2gn parts car so that's not an issue either. I think I'm gonna snag it, then sell my 02' sxt and go from there.

sounds like a plan to me. I missed the rebuild when I read your post before. 20k on the build speaks for the quality of the build as long as there are no unusual noises or smoke. Good Luck with the car when you snag it.
