Post by Anonymous User » Tue Feb 07, 2006 1:36 am

i know is probably a now brainer, but can u wire up subs and amp to a stock CD headunit? im guessing you cant. i might be getting the following for my neon, audio wise.

A. two 12inch TremorX 12 inch woofers 800watts each!
B. one PHD2000watts mono amplifier with,
C. one 4 gauge install kit all wires included
D.one pair of FS6.5R shallow coiaxal speakers for doors.

Yes, it can be done... But the sound quality isn't NEAR what it would be with an aftermarket deck. Go to AutoZone or K-Mart and pickup a Line-Out Converter (in the Auto Accessory Dept. - Should be with the car stereo stuff), they're about $15... They tap into your rear speaker wiring and basically convert the high level input from your stock deck to a low-level input (RCA cables). You can then run the RCA's to your amplifier for your subwoofer.

If this doesn't make any sense, sorry. :) But that's the best way I could explain it.

Well walmart.com doesn't have an Automotive section so you won't find it online and AutoZone's site just sucks... So, put your ass in a car and drive to either one. :) You'll find it... And as far as the name, that's the only thing it's called, because that's what it is.

Wow, I didn't realize that some amps STILL come with the high level inputs built in. My first amp about 8 years ago had it, but it was a small Pyramid amplifier.

But a new headunit ASAP though, because it sounds amazingly better than a stock deck powering an amp.
