My baby was hit today. Accident.. :(

Post by raffobaghdo » Wed Nov 06, 2013 11:15 am

Was on my way to work and I didn't see my blind spot and failed to yield. Went to make a left and boom, car's hit. Guy freaking out on me. Thankfully my neighbor helped me out in this situation. Plus my dad was there. I'm a moron and I feel like a pile of shit. Thankfully no injury and thankfully I didn't go in more or else he could have hit my driver side door.

Looks repairable but power steering fluid everywhere, and oil everywhere. Car still started up though.

Thank You. I feel hurt my Neon is away from me lol. Since I have no collision it's all coming out of my pocket. Luckily body parts are semi cheap. Don't know about that Saab though.

I would think that anyone who could afford a Saab would have good coverage.

I would be pissed if my Saab had to be flat bedded for that little crunch. They are supposed to be so "durable" you know. The radiator must be right at the front edge on that thing.

I still find it amazing how much damage a neon can inflict.

The sad part is full coverage would cost more than what the pay out is for a lot of the neons out there. And they would total it for that amount of damage, leaving you with a head ache or two getting it road legal again if you buy it back. If they give you the option.

Since it was my fault and I had no collision everything is coming out of my pocket. Sucky part is in order for the car to be released from the body shop lot I have to pay $400 dollars.. Paying $400 for removing oil spills and towing my car 6 miles to their shop... That in my opinion should have been at least $250 tops.

That's what you get for living in New York buddy.
Glad you are okay, sucks about the car and the insurance. Your rates will go up quite a bit. :/

I was just using that as an example to why full coverage isn't always worth it. Always get towing, if it is offered. it doesn't cost much more.

I always specify the car is towed to my house. It may cost a bit more up front, but saves on other grief. Once it's in my possession...

They are just hoping you forfeit the car instead of paying the inflated bill. I have never paid more than $120, and that was having the car on a flatbed for 20 miles to my home.

Yeah because the officers gave the orders to tow it I had to pay $400 to release car. Then $120 to bring car back to my garage. Then $45 so they can open the lot. I was pretty much ripped off. I have Geico towing and yesterday the rep told me I can have a free tow back to my garage.. Today I call them up again and they said no they can not. So, I got screwed $550 just to remove car from a lot and bring it back to my house.. They thought it would be nice to give $15 dollars off..

The accident happened right in front of my house. No idea why the police did not just push it back to my yard. Not even 30 feet away..

Sorry if I sound mad. Well because I am

I begged for the officer to not tow it and I begged the lady at the tow place to try to work some thing out with what I owed. They all just brushed it off their shoulders. Honestly all I can do is pray nothing got ruined with my engine/transmission/frame.

Wish I had fellow 2gn'rs where I lived. You guys would have probably came in a heartbeat and push my car to my garage/yard! lol

they have to tow it? that sounds stupid... the only reason that mine was towed is cause it wasn't drivable.

Right after accident when the tow truck driver was moving the car to the tow truck he drove it on the truck but the officer tells us we can't start the car and move it.. What in the hell huh.. They teared me a new one. Just to bring it back to my garage it was $500 bucks. What a bunch of schmucks.

Now I have to let my Neon sit because I have no money to buy the fenders, axle, and rim. Can't even let me catch a break. :(

I'd almost bet the cop is related to the owner of the towing company.

Can't believe I'm about to say this but looks like end for my Neon. My = uncle who works in a body shop took a look at the car today. Sad to say but she's going to cost too much to repair. What he told me was the impact caused my motor to shift to the right. Plus the subframe has been damaged also. I don't know much about automotive work. I'm just a noob.. But there's a huge list of problems he was telling me and it made me feel like the car is totaled.

He's going to inspect it more today and let me know if it's worth saving but with all the negative he was saying I know it's a goner.

What do you guys think I should do? Find a donor Neon?

Even finding another neon with a bad engine or trans, you would have to be able to swap those yourself, or have cheap help, to make it worthwhile.

If you are paying a thousand plus to have your driveline installed, The donor car would have to be immaculate to be feasible as far as value, and you would need a full coverage with replacement value policy.

Otherwise, part it out to try to make back some of the money you got shafted out of. And even that may take a while, unless you can get someone to give you a decent price for the whole car.

So I sold my Neon yesterday to a very very nice lady for $850. She bought it to use the engine and transmission for her daughter's Neon. I'm a bit glad my Neon is going to "save" another one.

Pic of her Neon. She sent it to me lol. Thank you all on this forum who taught me a lot!! Glad I was part of the 2gn scene for a while. Happy Thanksgiving guys! Best of lucK!
