Outside Winter Storage

Post by thy_2003sxt4 » Fri Nov 15, 2013 7:07 pm

Winter is pretty close and i'm putting away my neon. Sadly the 2-car garage is full and it will have to be stored outside. :banghead: I got a custom covercraft, all season waterproof cover that fits real snug. Oil was changed very recently and the gas tank is full. Gave her one last run and wash before throwing the cover back on. Question is, what is a good rule of thumb for winter? Do i start it up once a month/week, leave it be but take the battery out, ect? What do you think I should do?.

I want to take the battery out and hook it up to a charger, but my house owners do not want a battery in the house.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

After discovering signs of mice activity in my garage last winter, I put Bounce dryer sheets inside my Neon's interior and trunk and liberally placed mothballs under the hood, especially around the fusebox. You definitely want to keep mice away from your car while it is outside- they would find it to be a nice nest and would delight in eating your car's wiring harnesses.

Is it windy where you are parking it? I've seen some covers do nasty things to paint when they rub all winter because of the wind.

Dryer sheets FTW Great car defense.
