Been awhile. Been two cars, back to Neon.
Traded my blue Neon (first car) for a 2007 BMW 335i. Started falling apart after about a year.
Traded 335i for Honda Fit. Wrecked it while avoiding a deer.
The dealership I work at took in a sorry-looking 2005 Neon SXT with about 88k on the clock, in my least favorite color:
Red.
I got it for next to nothing, so I had them do about $4500 worth of MX to it to make it worth financing (timing belt, tie-rod ends, belts, etc. I didn't pay $4500, that's just what the work would have been retail), and get it ready for me to keep for a long time.
I learned my lesson:
Do not stray from Neon. Can bring only bad things. Neons for life.

So, I have a day off. I am broke. Pick n' Pull sounds fun. Time for learning. I have some questions though that you guys can probably answer. I am pretty ignorant about cars, and I wish to remedy that.

At PnP, there are tons of Neons, first and second gen, many with complete engine bays. (minus the air boxes. Why do they take them all out?) There is also a 2.0 Eclipse and a 2.0 Eagle Talon.
--Is there anything worth taking from either Eclipses that is better than what Dodge put into my car? The coil pack is still on the Eclipse; is it better than the stock one on my 2005, granted that it still works fine? Mine is a little wonky. The Talon I THINK is a TSi...anything worthy there?

I am going to dismantle as much of the engine bay as I can without a book in one of the 2nd Gen Neons. Is there anything I should grab? Thinking about the plastic intake manifold so I can try Dremel-ing it out and see what I can do with that.

Any other suggestions? Any other cars with swappable parts I should keep an eye out for, and go look at? Will 1gn A/C knobs work in my 2gn Neon?

Not much you can do with the plastic manifold. You could get some Plastic Weld from Permatex, and remove the injector humps, but most things you will not get the smooth surface back,and it is so thin, you don't have much to work with.

Other than the bottom end of the engine, there is little that can be swapped to the neon from the Diamond Star cars. At least not without a lot of effort.

Are the TB's gone along with the air boxes? If so they probably just pull the whole assy for the TB. Or all of them have been removed and tossed for CAI's

I don't think the HVAC knobs are swappable. I prefer the 2gn ones over the 1gn knobs, but that's my preference. I also have Wiggy's inserts in my 2gn knobs. (Not available anymore, AFAIK)

if your car is a manual you can put the manual trans out of the eclipse/talon non turbo in there. they had a lower gear ratio 3.94 compared to the base neons 3.55.

Yes R/T gearing FTW if your motor loves high rpms lol. I'm looking for a 1gn DOHC head like pimp-daddy-patty.
