ok so when i was driving home from work today, i was slowly getting closer to the car in front of me so i tapped my brakes, brakes worked fine and the brake lights came on, (saw the red on the road behind me) but the seatbelt and handbreak indicator lights on my dash started having a seizure blinking really fast, and then my radio started to cut out with the lights still flashing, then all my hvac lights went out and came back on, i pulled off the the side and everything went back to normal, turned my car off and checked for codes but nothing came up so i started the car and drove home... with no issues.
any ideas what the frick was going on? does my car have like an evil demon inside the dash or something?
Wierd...
Neons (or any modern car, for that matter) are sensitive to proper (or improper) grounding.
Two things to check:
1). The BATTERY TERMINALS.
Make sure these are TIGHT and CLEAN. Absolutely clean !!
2). GROUNDS -
Check the ones on the Upper Radiator Core support..... screwed in near the headlamps.
Dismantle them, and wire brush the terminal lugs and attaching screws, down to clean metal.
Also clean the attachment point, down to *bare* metal !! ( A Dremel Tool works great for this.)
[ WARNING : DO *NOT* OPERATE *ANY* ACCESSORIES, with either of these ground leads disconnected, or you will be very very sorry !! - Best to leave the battery disconnected, for safety.]
After reattaching these grounding leads.... Coat them with dielectric grease, or petroleum jelly, to keep corrosion away.
After cleaning these grounds - You may notice an increase, in the brightness of the dash lights, and maybe even the headlamps.
