Have the inlet pipe cut off and a 60mm piece welded on for starters.

Yeah, TOTALY agree with ^^^^^
Here is some pics of when i did mine...

Things to work on...
Opening up the intake inlet (MOST IMPORTANT!) Either open up the stock one (max is around 55mm) or cut it with a hacksaw and fit a 60mm aluminum piping in there and weld it. I have done both now, i say if you can find the pipe (can be hard to find!) do it!
When you cut off (if you do) the opening, its a perfect change to get into the inside of the bottom part of the mag intake. Rid of cast marks and do a general smoothening. No need to open anything up in here. Just smoothen the best you can. I found if you want to be cheap, take an electric drill, a wooden dowel (or equivilant) and some sandpaper (that comes on a roll! Not the flat kind. Flat paper doesnt hold up very well) and tape it on the end of the dowel. Will spin around the dowel, then work away! Gets good reach and is cheap. Once the paper is gone, tear off at the point where the paper overlapped (you will see it, it will go from bald to grain).
Take out the butterflies, motor, and the rest of the assembly. You will see a lip on all 4 of the round holes after you remove the butterflies. Even that out (doesnt take much work). If you can, put an angle at the bottom to sharpen the underside of the intake so it "cuts" the air better between the runners.
The primary runners, the square ones, would be a good idea to port match if you are comfortable with doing so. If not, just smoothen out.
just a bit of advice

Thanks for the Advice - Nice write up : )
Sounds like the biggest part is getting the opening cut off and a new one welded on . . .
Where did you end up finding your 60mm opening ?

Dude, i searched EVERYWHERE for some 2.5" or 60mm piping that was decent localy (machine shops, scrap yards, you name it!). Never did search on the net, but what i did find was like $35-50 for a peice of pipe! DAMN
I hooked up my origional baseline ebay CAI with the mag intake to see if it worked. It did, but was crappy floppy, the intake moved so much that when WOT, the TB would SLAM into the hood! So i found a post that somebody had a Mag intake aluminum bent pipe and the stock bellows for like $25 shipped. Bought it, and the aluminum was actualy a large peice of pipe that was bent in the middle. Ended up being exactly 60mm and took off a good 5" section off, that i will later end up welding on (havnt yet, havnt had time to get it on there)
I cut it off with a hacksaw. Its not hard, and it doesnt take a long time. Then, the 60mm pipe must be bent up a bit to fit in properly. Take it somewhere to weld. Shoudl be $10-15. If you want, at the time, have them weld up the injector bumps too. That is a LOT of work, though, BTW!
