"gravel" in the oil?

Post by nodestiny » Tue Feb 21, 2006 9:07 am

changed my tranny fluid and oil yesterday (33K). When i changed my oil, i screened it for shizzles and giggles. Found quite a bit of what almost looks like sand or gravel. Any ideas? Didnt seem to be metal, as some of it what a white/clear...

I was gonns say metal shavings . . .but its white huh ?

Sounds like sandy/grit stuff got in there somehow . . .

Weird . . .

Wonder if you knocked some in while you were pouring in oil ?

I wonder what the oil filter didnt catch this ?

Someone sells little screens that you can put on top of the oil filter before installing it. Then when you change your oil you can see what all was missed or sitting in the pan.
